Abstract
Introduction: Schools were reopened gradually nationwide with support from United Nations International Children's Emergency Funds (UNICEF) to provide the children's right to education despite the pandemic. Hence, compliance with the SOPs at school has become a priority to decrease the risk of infections. To promote high efficiency of disease management in school settings, a depth understanding of factors influencing preventive behaviour is needed. Objectives: Thus, this research will determine the association between socio-demographic characteristics, lifestyle, and occupational factors with the level of COVID-19 SOPs compliance among school management. Methodology: A cross-sectional study using an online-based questionnaire was conducted among school management in three districts located in North Selangor. The sample selection was through multistage sampling technique. The total sample size was 304 respondents. Respondents needed to complete all six sections in the questionnaire. Descriptive analysis, two independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation analysis, simple and multiple linear regression analysis were performed in this study. Results and Discussion: School management's overall knowledge, attitude, and practice were high with a scoring rate of 94.6%, 94.8%, and 89.2%, respectively. There was a significant positive correlation between knowledge with practice (r = 0.329), attitude with practice (r = 0.266), and knowledge with attitude (r = 0.329). Multiple linear regression revealed that high practice of COVID-19 SOPs compliance was significantly associated with knowledge, attitude, age, and physical activities. Those who aged 51 and above (β = 0.168, SE = 0.045, p<0.001) and often performing physical activities (β = 0.121, SE = 0.042, p<0.05), were more likely to practice strict compliance with SOPs. Knowledge (β = 0.333, SE = 0.083, p<0.001) and attitude (β = 0.160, SE = 0.069, p<0.001) were also significantly influenced their practice. Conclusion: The findings suggest that school management demonstrates high knowledge, attitude, and practice towards compliance with SOPs during the pandemic. Continuous in-house training to the school management is advised to be conducted by MOE to ensure the correct implementation of SOPs.
