Abstract
In this work, we report a simple method for producing a potential coatings for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrate. The gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) was embedded to the polymer with different type of preparation method which are chemical and physical method was successfully prepared to form homogeneous solution. Moreover, two type of polymer are used which are polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to investigate the best polymer that should be used as the binder. Although, the polymer composite films did not revealed an improvement for its enhanced raman signal but it already shows few aspect that we can used to select the suitable active layer that can be apply as the sensor for aquaculture detection application. The polymer composite sample then undergoes material characterization such as High Power Microscope and Raman Spectroscopy which was further analyzed in this study. Ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer (UV-Vis) revealed that some of the absorption of the polymer but none of them show the absorption peak of pure AuNPs where this is expected due to the low amount of AuNPs used in this experiment. High Power Microscope showed the physical properties of each of the polymer, as the conclusion PVA and PVA/AuNPs film shows the most homogeneous, well distributed surface and no agglomeration of AuNPs was observed. Lastly, Raman Spectroscopy show non-significant different since the amount of AuNPs used was too many cause an impact or decrease in intensity compared to pure PVA sample.
