Abstract

This study investigates the canker disease in Cinnamomum iners within urban environments, with a particular focus on identifying the causative agent. Employing both molecular and morphological analyses, Fusarium solani was implicated as the primary pathogen, contrary to previous beliefs that attributed the disease to Erythricium salmonicolor. The research methodology included field assessments, sample isolation, and pathogenicity tests, supporting the morphological identification with DNA analysis. Findings indicate the necessity for urban forestry management to adapt to the threat F. solani poses to C. iners. This study underscores the importance of accurate pathogen identification for sustaining urban greenery and contributes to broader environmental management and conservation efforts.
