Abstract

Bird species richness and composition were quantified in Angsi forest reserve and oil palm plantation. The aim of this research was to investigate the comparison of bird species richness between forest and oil palm plantation.70 points of mist- netting were installed in forest habitat and oil palm plantations. A total of 87 birds from 43 species were found in forest and oil palm plantations. There was a significant different between in species richness and composition in forest habitat and oil palm plantation. Interestingly, the key environment such as tree density and undergrowth height also influenced the species richness and composition. Further research is required to understand more about the factor of habitat quality that can influence the species richness and composition.
