Abstract

Background: Occupational Safety and Health Master Plan for Malaysia 2015 was intended to increase awareness, knowledge and commitment to Occupational Safety and Health in all undertaking to reduce the number of injuries, diseases and fatalities. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Occupational Safety Health Master Plan for Malaysia 2015 (OSH-MP 15) in enhancing government leadership and preventive workplace culture. Methods: The study design used was cross sectional study. This study covered all state in Malaysia. There were 309 employers, 350 Occupational Safety Health practitioners and 360 employees participated in this study. There are three questionnaires for three different groups which are employers, Occupational Safety Health practitioners and general employees. The respondent was selected through random sampling. The expected result for this study is there will be significance different between the sectors on effectiveness of Occupational Safety and Health Master Plan 2015 for Malaysia. Results and Discussions: For general worker there was significant different of mean of effectiveness of OSH-MP15 for both strategy one (p=<0.001) and strategy two (p=<0.001 ). For OSH practitioner there was significant different of mean of effectiveness of OSH-MP 15 for strategy one (p=0.033) while strategy two there was significant different of mean of effectiveness between· sector (p=0.0 11 ). For employer there was significant different of mean of effectiveness of OSH-MP15 for both strategy one (p=<0.001) and strategy two (p=<0.001). Conclusion: This master plan was not only about having a plan but in having it continuously tested and enhanced. This study provided the secondary data for future research be a valuable guidance for researchers, practitioner and employer for identifying the mechanism that can improve the occupational safety and health in Malaysia.
