Abstract
People are consumed seepage water directly without proper treatment. Hence, the purpose of this study is to determine the quality of seepage water at 3 locations; Ulu Yam, SILK, and Batu 18 Sg. Tekali, which are situated in Selangor state. The study also to analyze the relationship of soil/rock properties with the water quality. Samples were taken at these locations twice a month within 4 months (December 2016, January, February, March 2017). The water sample has been analyzed by using in-situ approach and laboratory works. Experimental data of seepage water quality were then compared with National Standard Water Quality (NSWQ), Department of Environment, National Standard for Drinking Water Quality (NSDWQ), Ministry of Health Malaysia and World Health Organization (WHO) since people used it for drinking purposes. Analysis of seepage water quality showed all water quality parameters are fall within the parameters set specifically for Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and heavy metals (manganese and zinc). However, the pH value for each location does not meet the requirement. Although water quality is considered to be clean, many of the issues related to it need to be considered, particularly in terms of safety and health of the public who used the seepage water as source for drinking water.
