Abstract
Survey on the Prevalence of the Ear Mite, Otodectes cynotis. in Dog in the Kuala Lumpur - Petaling Jaya Area. The prevalence of ear mites was investigated in dogs with respect to breed, ear management, ear type, body size, external auditory meatus cleanliness, age and sex. The results abowed the highest prevalence of the ear mites in the Dobermann, small (toy) breeds, dogs with poor ear management, dogs less than 1 year old and dogs with markedly dirty ears. From this study it was concluded that ear management may be the single most important factor determining whether or not a dog has ear mites.
