Abstract
Introduction: Renewable energy is a type of energy which is considered as clean sources of energy. This sources, if used optimally, can reduce and minimize the environmental impacts. Biomass, hydro, geothermal, wind solar and wave are the examples of the renewable energy that we can use for our sustainable development. In this context, university students, as future decision makers and stakeholders, should be aware of the renewable energy in order to live in sustainable development. Objectives: The aim of this study is to examine the knowledge, attitude and perception on renewable energy among university students. Methodology: A survey- based study, through online questionnaire was conducted and distributed to 91 students from seven different faculties. Results: Our study finds that university students have medium level of knowledge on renewable energy. However, they have showed high level of attitudes and good perception on renewable energy. Conclusion: Overall, our study finds that female students have higher knowledge on renewable energy than male students. The findings of this study could be used as the baseline information to implement the utilization of renewable energy in this country. Keywords: Renewable energy, knowledge, attitude, practice
