Abstract

The importance of the perovskite manganites has been paid worldwide due to their colossal magnetoresistance effect and technological applications for magnetic field sensing devices. A higher magnetoresistance at low magnetic field (LFMR) with low temperature and electrical resistivity are needed by most of the magnetic devices. Previous research proved that the enhanced LFMR can be achieved by introducing secondary insulating phase. In this research, the (1-x) Pr0.67Sr0.33MnO3 – (x)Al2O3 (x = 0.00, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05 and 0.10) composites have been prepared by using sol gel reaction method. The structure, electrical and magneto- transport properties are systematically investigated. The results of X-ray Diffraction (XRD) indicates that all the samples are single-phase without any detectable impurity or secondary phase of Al2O3 was observed. Other than that, the magnetic behavior of PSMO is ferromagnetic in room temperature, which the curie temperature of PSMO is predicted to be between 200K to 305K. Next, the enhancement of LFMR was detected and also the shifting of TMI to the lower temperature when the Al2O3 was added due to the suppression of DE effect and JT distortions were used after TMI. Based on the results from XRD, ACS and also VSM, the secondary oxide was actually substituted into the parent compound.
