Abstract
Background: World Health Organization (WHO) had been announced that dengue fever infection is an endemic case around South East Asia because of the climate of South East Asia is more prone to get the infection. Dengue Virus is a type of mosquito borne fever that can infect human through biting human when mosquitoes feed human blood. This virus was carried to be spread by Aedes mosquitoes that become the primary vector including Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. This become the common type of mosquitoes that can spread dengue virus and human become the main victim that can develop dengue fever. To the knowledge of author, there is only paucity of study towards knowledge, attitude and practice at the construction site in Malaysia. It is an important area because construction site contribute in the increasing number of dengue cases as it can be the mosquito breeding site (Wilke et al., 2018). Objective: To determine level of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice on Dengue Prevention among Construction Worker at Kajang, Selangor. Methodology: It is a cross-sectional survey study that be carried among construction worker that has been chosen using inclusion and exclusion criteria. Raosoft sample size calculator giving a total of 152 survey respondents. Participant need to need to attend interview based on questionnaire by helper. The questionnaire contain section A, B and C which consist of socio-demographic data, knowledge, attitude and practice on dengue prevention. Data be analysed using Statistical Analysis Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22. Results: Overall, the age of respondents that involved in this study was between 23 to 49 years old. Out of 112respondents, 57(50.9%) are Bangladeshi and 55(49.1%) are Indonesian. The findings in this study showed that (96.5%) have good knowledge, (100%) have a good attitude and (67.9%) have a good practice of dengue prevention. Conclusion: The findings showed that there was a significant relationship between level of knowledge and attitude score at p-value 0.007. The result obtained in this study showed that majority of respondents had good knowledge, attitude and practice on dengue prevention, but still 32.1% of respondent in poor practice on dengue prevention among construction worker in Kajang, Selangor.
