Abstract
Objective: This study examines the engagement of health communication between government and Malaysian population by using interactive Twitter features related to COVID-19 vaccine awareness. Method: The tweets and interactive features from Vaksin COVID-19 Profile and KKMalaysia Profile were collected from 1st January 2021 until 31st August 2021. There also tweet and interactive features from #LindungDiriLindungSemua were col- lected from 1st January 2021 until 31st August 2021. Octoparse software were used to extract the real-time data by collecting tweets and its interactive features. The correlation test was used to determine the correlation between the frequency of tweets related vaccine awareness in government profile and its interactive features. Next, correlation test was also used to determine the correlation between frequency of hashtag from government and public tweets related to vaccine awareness and its inter- active features. Result: This study found a total of 1567 tweets related vaccine awareness were collected from Vaccine Covid-19 Profile and 438 tweets related vaccine awareness were collected from KKMalaysia Profile. A total of 4207 tweets contain hashtag #LindungDiriLindungSemua by government were collected and 4039 tweets contain hashtag #lindungDiriLindungSemua used by public. There was positive and strong correlation of Tweet Vaksin COVID-19 Profile with Comment Vaksin COVID-19 (0.881, p<0.05), Retweet Vaksin COVID-19 (0.786, p<0.05), Like Vaksin COVID-19 (0.786, p<0.05) and positive and strong correlation of Tweet KKMalaysia with Comment KKMalaysia (0.802, p<0.05), and Like KKMalaysia (0.862, p<0.05). However, the correlation between Tweet KKMalaysia with Retweet KKMalaysia was found not significant. There was positive and good correlation of Tweet contain #LindungDiriLindungSemua from Government with Like from Tweet’s Government (0.713, p<0.05). However, the correlation between Tweet contains #LindungDiriLindungSemua from government with Comment and Retweet from Tweet’s Government was found not significant. There was positive and good correlation of Tweets contain #LindungDiriLindungSemua from Public with Comment in Tweet’s Public (0.952, p<0.001), Retweet in Tweet’s Public (0.881, p<0.05), and Like in Tweet’s Public (0.881, p<0.05). Conclusion: This study conclude that Twitter Application can be used as a tool for health communication related vaccine awareness between government and public. The high number of interactive features (comment, retweet, like) shows that there was high engagement between tweets made by government and public.
