Abstract
This study evaluates the uprooting wildling techniques of Streblus Elongatus and Palaguium Gutta tap root system in the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effects of different wildling uprooting procedures on two essential elements of Streblus Elongatus and Palaquium Gutta seedlings. These fundamental features are the condition of the taproot and the root-to-shoot ratio, which is measured in terms of both length and biomass. Through the examination of these aspects, the study aims to get an understanding of the methods by which different uprooting techniques impact the overall health and growth potential of these seedlings. The experimental design combines three distinct uprooting methods (bare hand, tiny trowel, and shovel hole digger) with a focus on the two aforementioned species. Ten replications of each approach were employed to ensure statistical robustness and dependability of the outcomes. The variables were analyze using factorial analysis of Variance (ANOVA). To examine the relationship between all parameters, correlation of coefficient is being used. From the study, the result shows that different uprooting techniques do not significantly affect the taproot of Streblus Elongatus and Palaquium Gutta seedlings where almost half of the parameters showed not significant result (p>0.05) in the ANOVA result. This suggests that technique 3 does not necessarily lead to a better root-to-shoot ratio than the other techniques. There are few recommendations for this study such as trim the roots if they exceed 8cm to fit inside a 6x9cm polybag to avoid the seedling's roots from developing in a circular pattern, which usually happens in small spaces. Circular growth may cause "root girdling" or "lethal imprint" as roots wrap around and choke themselves. Next, propagate plants using stem cuttings from healthy parent plants to ensure a robust root system from the start.
