Abstract
This thesis basically explores the designation of solar cell based ZnO with high optimization using Personal computer one-dimensional (PC1D) simulation. ZnO solar cells have been characterized and studied by varying the parameter of band gap and electron affinity. With simulation results, the ideal short-circuit current (Isc = 462.8 mA), power conversion efficiency (η = 19.8%), and open-circuit voltage (Voc = 222.2 mV) were achieved at the band gap of 3.27 eV and electron affinity of 4.10 eV of the ZnO solar cell. PC1D is compatible with personal computers, making it ideal for conducting research. The wide direct band gap of solar cell was proven to be the most suitable one in designing solar cell with a high efficiency than the common solar cell. This simulation confirmed that a ZnO solar cell with the proposed optimised parameter might be highly efficient for fabrication.
