Abstract
The Kingdom Fungi is the most least researched organisms compared to others living organism. Numerous Malaysian forests have yet to be investigated especially in limestone areas; hence the research of macro fungi diversity at different elevation in Perlis State Park could contributes to the others research, and the finding can contribute to the conservation purposes. This study aims to identify the macro fungi based on the genus and to determine the diversity of macro fungi based on the different elevation. An opportunistic method was used to collect data, and indices such as Shannon-Weiner, H’ and Fernando’s Biodiversity Scale were used to determine the diversity of macro fungi. A total of 600 individuals of macro fungi were discovered throughout the study and Mycena sp. was the most abundant species in Perlis State Park. The diversity of macro fungi at different elevation as obtained in this study were low at 184 m a.s.l and 269 m a.s.l. according to Fernando’s Biodiversity Scale with H’ value of 2.310 and 2.002 respectively. At 310 m a.s.l. the diversity of macro fungi can be regarded as very low with H’ value of 1.376. This study’s findings can be utilised to assist conservationists in determining proper actions required for biodiversity conservation and to enhance public education on the importance of micro fungi.
