Abstract
In this study, we investigated the microstructure of YBCO thin films. There were four samples that were used such as MGD 001, MGD 29, MUSTO 10 and MYB 07. Both of MGD 001 and MGD 29 were grown with nano inclusions of Gd-2411 meanwhile MUSTO 10 and MYB 07 were only grown with pure YBCO. All the samples were fabricated with almost same parameters. The AFM was used to measure the surface roughness of the samples.The surface formation of AFM shows that the YBCO with Gd- 2411 has the lowest surface roughness measurement. However, pure YBCO without nano inclusions have the most desirable island growth. The SEM was used to measure the average grains size of each sample. The SEM images revealed that YBCO with nano inclusions has the largest grains size. The XRD analysis was done to determine the lattice parameters of the samples. From the analysis, YBCO with nano inclusions has the highest unit cell volume and orthorhombicity.
