Abstract
The present research purpose is to investigate which factors correlate to the farmers’ intention towards IoT adoption. The research was carried out by doing a survey towards 18 dairy farmers at Keningau, Sabah with the assumption that participants have prior Internet-of-Things (IoT) knowledge. The survey was conducted using a questionnaire consists of Section A: Demographic; Section B: Factors of influencing IoT adoption and Section C: Intention to adopt IoT. The data were collected and edited using Microsoft Excel® (Microsoft Corp, Redmond, WA, USA) and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows version 26 (IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y., USA). Demographic result showed 73% (n=6) works at commercial farms (more than 50 cows), 30% (n=5) were farm owners and workers, respectively and 56% (n=9) have were SPM holder. Most farmersAbout ( 39% of farmers) were not sure of internet speed, . Factors result showed about 66% werare aware on IoT, 78% never heard about IoT in past 6 months and 83% never use IoT technology. The farmers felt the benefit of IoT were increase farm efficiency (29%), saves time (27%) and improve productivity (23%). They felt the disadvantages of IoT were expensive installation cost (36%) and expensive usage fee (22%). Finally, about 72% have intention to adopt IoT into their farms but this is not correlated with any factors. In conclusion, farmers have intention to adopt IoT. Increasing the sample size is suggested for future research
