Abstract

Ecotourism refers to tourism activities conducted with full awareness of the surrounding environment and local culture. It involves responsible recreational experiences that aim to preserve natural ecosystems and create awareness of conservation efforts. The main objective of this study is to determine visitors’ priorities regarding the attributes of tourism packages. Precursor factors include the attributes preferred by visitors for tourism packages, activities most favored by visitors, and the primary priorities in supporting conservation initiatives. This research employs a quantitative method through survey questionnaires, involving visitors as the sample. The sample consists of 300 respondents who visited ecotourism in Pahang, specifically around Tasek Bera. The study results indicate that the majority of respondents are male, with a small percentage being female. Most respondents are below 36 years old, single, educated, employed, and have an average income ranging from RM1000 to RM3000. The majority of respondents also reside more than 15 km from the destination, their main purpose for visiting is to relax and enjoy recreation. The study reveals a significant relationship between precursor factors and tourists’ perceptions of ecotourism areas. The finding of this study can guide recreational destination management in providing a satisfying experience for visitors. While this study lays the foundation, it is recommended to conduct in-depth analyses to explore more detailed aspects of package tours in the context of tourism.
