Abstract
Outdoor recreational activities are among the most popular programs in Malaysia. Outdoor recreation programs are often associated with activities that are done to gain satisfaction and can strengthen the relationship between those who do it. However, outdoor activity programs also require organizations and organization leaders to ensure that people have the opportunity to participate in the program. However, the head of the organization or leader for outdoor recreation programs is often dominated by men who have masculine characteristics and are not suitable for women. The stereotype that still exists causes this group to present themselves less as leaders in outdoor recreation programs. There is little known research that explores the level of perception of UPM students towards women as leaders or facilitators in outdoor recreation. The objective of this study is to determine the students' perception of female leadership characteristics and to determine the comparison of the perception of female leadership performance between the demographic profile of the respondents. The responses of student respondents show different perceptions. Questionnaires have been distributed and a sample of 350 respondents among UPM students has also been obtained. This study revealed that female leaders/facilitators also have leadership characteristics as agreed by the public such as the group being very professional in doing work and having various strategies in doing tasks. this study concludes the importance of outdoor recreation programs and the need to evaluate perceptions by identifying strengths and weaknesses.
