Abstract

This research aims to study the electromagnetic interference absorbance of pure PET and PET/GNPs-CNTs with different compositions: 0.1wt% and 0.5wt%. In this research, the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) was synthesized by using melt blending and injection molding method with the addition of different composition, mainly graphene nanoplatelet (GNPs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The surface morphology of the fabricated PET/GNPs- CNTs nanocomposites were observed by using field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) while peak phases and samples’ crystallinity were determined by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). Vector network analyzer (VNA) and two-point probe is used to measure the electrical properties of the samples along with the electrical conductivity by using certain formula to calculate the values. The addition in filler composition shows that the structures and morphology of the nanocomposites are tends to crack and agglomerate under FESEM images and higher value of weight percentage display sharper crystallinity in XRD results. This research also discovers that the presence of carbon nanofiller rise the electrical properties and also the conductivity of polymer nanocomposites.
