Abstract
This report shows the design, construction, and calibration of a tabletop Universal Testing Machine which are made up of Plastic Lego Bricks. A commercial 5kg load cell was used to measure the load applied on a sample. MH infrared sensor with sensitivity of 0.1 cm was used to measure displacement between the platform and compression plate which was used to determine the material strain. Load cell and MH infrared sensor was connected to a personal computer through Arduino Uno microcontroller. Load was supplied from EV3 large servo motor which was controlled by an EV3 Mindstorms Intelligent Brick. The user interface was designed using NI LabView 2019. Hapi Gummy candy was used to perform test run to determine the capability of the machine to perform compression test.
