Abstract

Due to the microclimatic factors in Kundasang, strawberry cultivation has a good potential to commercialize in Kundasang. With good value and demand in local market, strawberry can contribute to increasing income. The climate factors allowed strawberry to grow well in Kundasang. Temperature range from 15°C to 28°C and light duration about 4 to 6 hours per day is suitable for strawberry cultivation. Even though the natural constraint in strawberry farming in Kundasang due to low rainfall, this could be overcome by using drip irrigation system under rain sheltered. is. The other constraint factors on strawberry cultivation in Kundasang, is lack of knowledge about strawberry. Because of this, the current status of strawberry cultivation is still not scientifically develop. No support from the government authorithy also make the local farmer not interested in large scales strawberry cultivation. This study conclude that, utilizing the microclimatic advantage of Kundasang and adapting suitable cultivation technology could contribute to the success of strawberry cultivation. Further research on the agronomic aspects of suitable cultivars or varieties needs to be conducted.
