Abstract
Present study was conducted to evaluate the optimal protein dietary requirement of Australian Red Claw, Cherax quadricarinatus. Diets containing four different levels of protein were evaluated (control, 30%, 35% and 40%) on 10 samples per treatment. Study was performed for 10 weeks, and observations were recorded every 2 weeks. Throughout the observation of C. quadricarinatus diet, first 4 weeks there is decreasing of samples, because 10% of C. quadricarinatus were dead. This might be due to the samples are not adapted to environment or treatment. On week 5-7, the C. quadricarinatus are able to adapt to the diet and environment, and showed increases in the body weight and size. On week 8-10, there is gradual increased in body weight and size of C. quadricarinatus. After 42 days, no significant effect was found on survival rate (83.33-100%). There is significant different in total weight gain among the treatment (7.57±0.13). The growth was affected by dietary protein level at 30% treatment. Highest treatment ( 40% protein level) was affected the total weight gain of C. quadricarinatus.
