Abstract

Introduction: Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) checklist is a new checklist that was developed as a comprehensive and integrated method for assessing three different domains of ergonomics in the workplace. Knowledge, attitude and acceptance (KAA) survey gather information on what participants know, what participants think, and participants willingness on the new HFE checklist. Understanding the KAA’s level among industries fills the existence gap and reveal the current scenario of their willingness to adopt the new HFE checklist in the future. Objective: This study aims to assess the level of knowledge, attitude and acceptance (KAA) of using Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) checklist among industries. Methodology: A crosssectional study was conducted among manufacturing and non-manufacturing industries from several states of Malaysia. A total of 60 respondents were enrolled in this study and were required to answer a set of questionnaires adapted from previous study consisting of four parts to assess the level of KAA on HFE checklist. Then, the data was analyzed by using SPSS version 29.0 for descriptive and bivariate analysis. Result and Discussion: The results showed that majority of the respondents were Malay (85.0%), male (76.8%), and Malaysian (100%). The youngest age of the respondents was 23 years old while the oldest was 61 years old with mean age 36.05 years ± (SD) 8.90 years. A majority (51.70%) of respondents hold Bachelor’s Degrees, and (60.0%) others have roles other than Safety Health Officer and Industrial Hygiene professionals. The findings showed a high knowledge level (78%), moderate level of attitude (78%), and acceptance (77%), respectively. There was no significant difference in the level of knowledge, attitude, and acceptance between manufacturing and non-manufacturing among industries with p>0.05, (p=0.215), (p=0.499) and (p=0.295) respectively. Furthermore, there was no significant difference on the KAA’s level between technical and non-technical competences among industries with p>0.05, (χ2=1.274, p=0.529 for knowledge, χ2=3.702, p=0.157 for attitude and χ2=0.971, p=0.615 for acceptance). Conclusion: These findings could be used as a baseline for future studies, providing initial insights into the KAA levels of using HFE checklist among industries. Keywords: Knowledge, attitude, acceptance, Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) checklist, industries
