Abstract

This study demonstrates the biodegradability efficiency of Phanerochaete chrysosporium, strain A TCC 34540 lignin of oil palm EFB. The fungus culture was first freeze dried into powder form. There were three treatments ( different concentration of fungus culture) and one control. Treatment 1, 2 and 3 were 0.08%, 0.16% and 0.24% concentration fungus. The experiment was conducted for 80 days. Sampling was done every 10 days, the experimental design is Complete Randomize Design and data analyzed using regression. Before inoculate, the lignin content for EFB is 14.99%. After 80 DAT, treatment with concentration 0.24% decrease most (33.65%), following is treatment with concentration 0.16% (32.65%) and treatment with concentration 0.08% (11.86%). For C/N ratio test, C/N ratio decrease most in the treatment with concentration 0.24% (44.18%), following by treatment with concentration 0.16% (42.28%) and treatment with concentration 0.08% (30.11%). These shows that treatment with highest concentration of fun gus culture (0.24%) is most efficiency in degrade the lignin content in EFB. The heap condition such as pH, moisture content, temperature and humidity are maintained in an acceptable level; pH 6-7.5, 50-65% percent, 29-31 °c and 90-96% respectively.
