Abstract
Introduction: Work-related quality of life (WRQoL) plays important role in maintaining workers’ performances and organization’s productivity. Advanced technology creates changes from paper-based work to computer-based which lead to sedentary behaviour (SB) during working life. Sedentary behaviour affects WRQoL in term general well-being. Objective: A cross-sectional study was conducted to examine the relationship between sedentary behaviour and work factors with WRQoL among government office workers. Methodology: 126 office workers were randomly involved in this study which aged within 20 - 60 years old. The Work-related Quality of Life questionnaire was used to assess their WRQoL while pedometer and Occupational Sitting and Physical Activities Questionnaires (OSPAQ) were used to determine SB. Results and Discussion: Findings showed that 69.8% were female office workers, 92.9% were Malay and 84.1% of them already married. 53.6% of office workers have high quality of work life. However, sedentary behaviour did not give significant impact towards work-related quality of life. The results illustrated that age, monthly income, walking per day, educational level and job position showed significantly associated with WRQoL. Conclusion: To sum up, only work factors significantly associated with WRQoL among government office workers. Keywords: work-related quality of life (WRQoL), sedentary behaviour (SB), office workers.
