Abstract

Introduction: Movement Control Order (MCO) was carried out in Malaysia in early 2020 as an effort to help counter the COVID-19 pandemic from spreading. The implementation of MCO affects university students in terms of physical activity that can cause problems such as sedentary lifestyle. This study aimed to determine the physical activity level before COVID-19 and during COVID-19 (MCO 3.0) among undergraduate students in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Methods: This study used a cross sectional study design to compare the differences of physical activity level before and during COVID-19 among undergraduate students in UPM. The timeline of physical activity level during COVID-19 was asked during the MCO 3.0. There were 66 students from 4 faculties volunteered to become respondents by filling out a questionnaire on Google Form. The IPAQ instrument was used to determine the physical activity level before COVID-19 and during MCO 3.0. Data were analyzed by using SPSS 26 with p= < 0.05 as a significant level. Results: The results showed that during the quarantine period (MCO 3.0), the low level of PA increases from 18.2% up to 24%, the moderate level increases from 45.5% to 51.5%. and for the high physical activity level, the percentage dropped from 36.4% to 12.1%. There is a significant change in physical activity level before COVID-19 and during MCO 3.0 (p= <.00) with a large effect size r= 0.51. Conclusion: The study found that there is a significant change in physical activity level before COVID-19 and during MCO 3.0
